A Double Dump Valve is a type of valve system typically used in industrial applications for controlling the flow of bulk materials, such as powders, pellets, or granular products, in a dust-tight manner. It helps in conveying these materials from one part of the system to another, usually from a hopper to a conveyor or between different processing stages, without allowing air or dust to escape.

Here’s how it works:

1. Two Valves in Series: The system consists of two valves arranged in series. Each valve opens and closes alternately to create an airlock between two zones with different pressures, usually between a high-pressure area (like a hopper) and a low-pressure area (like a conveyor).

2. Dumping Process:

   • The first valve opens to allow material to fall into a chamber.
   • Once the chamber is filled, the first valve closes to maintain the seal, preventing pressure or dust from leaking out.
   • The second valve then opens to discharge the material, while still maintaining an airlock between the two environments.

3. Dust-tight and Airlock Capability: This design is essential in processes where maintaining an airtight or dust-tight seal is critical, such as in pneumatic conveying systems, kilns, or reactors, where maintaining pressure differentials is important.
